Oh dear, how depressing. I’ve always seen myself as being moderate left - as indeed I imagine Cleese has, and you yourself, Andrew. Free speech was always been part and parcel of that - the very heart of liberalism. But now I seem to be ‘far right’, even though I’ve never even owned a black Labrador. It’s not just criticism of Islam that’s the issue here, but criticism of anything (the big e.g. being genderism) that is part of the hyper-liberal universe. It’s not that I fear being locked up for wrongspeak. It’s that I am going to have to spend the rest of my life being lectured by gurning, sanctimonious fools like Polanski, Ed Davey and Louise Haigh.

On a tangential, but not unrelated, matter, you might want to look into what is happening around the various anniversaries of Jewish resistance to Oswald Mosley. Unsurprisingly, although depressingly, Jewish groups are being intimidated by the far left 'anti-fascist', pro-Pally brigade as they attempt to celebrate their own radical history. Jews have been targeted in Leeds already, and this weekend in London the 90th Anniversary Cable Street commemoration is looking to be equally hostile to Jews. The Mosleyites in 2026 will be wearing the keffiyah and oblivious to the obscene irony.

I am beginning to think that leaving the UK, as you have, is a good idea. Barely a day passes without witnessing some insanity from one of our institutions. Every day some Labour midwit crows about the mythical "Far Right" - and the BBC never misses an opportunity, even bizarrely managing to sneak the phrase into a report about the recent aircraft hijack attempt. I'm not sure England can be saved.

Look, I've told you once. There's absolutely nothing wrong in British culture or intellectual society. Oh, is this not the right room for an argument? No, it's getting hit-on-the-head-with-a-Koran lessons in here. I'm thinking of starting a new line in transparent burqas, so that the Muslims who want women's faces covered will be technically satisfied, but people who don't think faces should be covered in normal sane trusting societies will also be satisfied. Think I'll make any money out of this? Should I be reported to Prevent for this post? Well, I thought it was funny, but some might think it's just offensive. Not that it isn't supposed to be offensive as well, but lots of funny things are, aren't they?

If I were John Cleese, I would hold up a placard saying:

STONING FOR ADULTERY IS PRIMITIVE, 7th CENTURY BARBARITY

ANYONE WHO DOES NOT CONDEMN STONING HAS NO PLACE IN BRITAIN,

AND SHOULD LEAVE THE COUNTRY

and look forward to being arrested. I can't do this myself, as I'm an ex-pat in New Zealand, but if some notary were to do this, it might bring the whole issue into public focus.
