What we are living through is the end result of the long march through the institutions. It has produced generations of useful idiots. If there is a threat from the ‘far right’ they are it. They are the ones shutting down free speech and behaving like tin pot dictators. It’s time they were thoroughly mocked. How about an AI image of Lenny Henry and minions dressed as Spode in Jeeves and Wooster all marching with their knobbly knees on full display.

A fitting analogy, these people have conjured up in their minds this monster that doesn’t exist.

I have been continuously drawn back to the Crucible. There seems to be a spiralling hysteria with accusations of fascism drawing in more and more groups. Who will be going to the gallows?

As the late Professor Jacob Bronowski might have said, ‘it all depends on what you mean by far right’. Clearly the Together Alliance regards Reform UK as far right, even fascist. One of the biggest twerps in British politics, Josh Babarinde, the president of the Liberal Democrats, also counts people with gender-critical views as far right and described For Women Scotland as having a fascist agenda. My feeling is that in a few years time, after their mettle has been tested in local government, Reform will be seen for what they are - a bunch of chancers making fantastical promises they can’t keep.

A far bigger danger is that the left and centre of politics give themselves over entirely to Luxury Opinions, barely hiding their contempt for the working class voters who were at the sharp end of the Boriswave and are still by no means convinced that immigration is under control.

The 'far bigger danger' that you describe in your final paragraph came to pass a long time ago, further ago even than the Boriswave.

I think you misunderstand their concept of far right. Far right = everyone who doesn't think like us.

With the growing petrol price I think many will fancy jumping on a broom and flying around but Andrew Doyle doesn't believe in witches so that option is off now.

Where does Reform fit into your analysis, Andrew?
